Would older mature people (say in Ulverston) be surprised if young adults saw them as people who were acting irresponsibly and greedily when they sat back and enjoyed retirement while they were left struggling to cope with hardships caused by their elders.
For instance :
1.Elders buying up property in their town with cash from the sale of larger houses. Something the younger ones are unable to do unless they have helpful parents.
2.Being taxed to pay for the pensions of their elders which could last 30 years (60 to 90) - most of the time they will be working - 40 years. Many struggling to cope with payments for accommodation, services and necessary equipment - car, and supporting the growth of several children for 20 years stuff for the children. And at the same time supporting all those out of work and requiring medical help.
3. The preoccupation of their elders with their own interests - totally unaware of the needs of younger adults.
Do we have role reversal?
Will young adults be able to cope with selfish elders?
